Statement by Abigail Moyo, spokesperson of the trade union UASA:
UASA was honoured to host a high-level delegation from IndustriALL Global Union, including General Secretary Atle Høie and Sub-Saharan Africa Regional Secretary Paule Ndessomin at UASA’s Head Office.
The visit marked a significant milestone for UASA as a proud affiliate of IndustriALL, a global union federation representing over 50 million workers in 140 countries. IndustriALL unites workers across the energy, mining, manufacturing, and industrial sectors, including key areas such as mining, metals, chemicals, textiles, and automotive, among others. Among these sectors are also industries where UASA continues to have a strong presence through its dedicated members.
IndustriALL is a powerful voice for industrial workers globally, committed to fighting for better working conditions, trade union rights, sustainable industrial policy and decent work.
UASA remains committed to improving the lives of its members. We value the leadership engagement as a reaffirmation of the union’s global relevance and responsibilities. The insights and support from IndustriALL leadership play a crucial role in refining UASA’s mandate, strengthening policies and mandates, and reinforcing international connections and outlook.
This engagement highlights the importance of global unity in the labour movement. As the world of work continues to evolve, partnerships like these remind us that the fight for workers’ rights knows no borders.
