UASA Media Release: 02 December 2025

Statement by Abigail Moyo, spokesperson of the trade union UASA:

The Department of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has published the official fuel price adjustments, effective Wednesday, 3 December 2025.

From Wednesday, petrol users will see prices increase by 29 cents per litre, while diesel drivers will see a much larger hike of 66c per litre for 0.05% sulphur, and 83c for 0.005% sulphur.

Illuminating Paraffin (Wholesale) will increase by 74c per litre, and LP GAS in Gauteng will increase by 24c per kg. LP Gas prices will vary by Magisterial District Zone.

This throws a spanner in the works for workers who, after the November fuel savings, had already budgeted for their December and January expenses, including travel to spend time with family and loved ones.

UASA urges its members and South Africans in general to tighten their belts to accommodate the higher prices, while keeping in mind the upcoming costs of school fees and uniforms in early January.
