Statement by Abigail Moyo, spokesperson of the trade union UASA:
UASA is pleased to announce the positive outcome of the wage agreement signed with Colliery Training College (CTC) Coal on behalf of our members and workers employed by the company.
This three-year agreement signed between labour and the employer is effective from 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2028. In terms of the agreement:
• Category A & B Band employees will receive a 6% salary increase.
• Living-out Allowance of R3,500
• Medical Aid contribution of 50% in 2026, 2027 and 2028.
C Band employees will receive a:
• 5% salary increase in 2026 & 2027.
• 5.5% increase in 2028.
• Living-out Allowance will be R3,500 Medical Aid contribution will be 50% in 2026, 2027 and 2028.
The above-inflation wage increases are a positive outcome for workers, highlighting employers’ consideration for cost-of-living expenses for workers in the new year.
UASA is proud of its team for negotiating favourable and lucrative wage increases on behalf of its members. We hope this wage agreement will go a long way to assist our members and all workers in the company financially in the new year.
