UASA Sector News: 21 February 2025

Statement by Abigail Moyo, spokesperson of the trade union UASA:

The UASA team took an active role at the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) Employer Seminar hosted by the Department of Employment and Labour (DEL) and the UIF in eThekwini.

Representing UASA at the event were Divisional Manager (Specialist Division) Ryan Dalton and Operational Manager Sean Drabble, who engaged in critical discussions.

With unions from various sectors and industries in attendance, discussions were dynamic and solution-driven. They tackled key issues like UIF compliance, reduced worktime benefits, U-Filing, and workplace enforcement laws. The engagement was robust, with trade unions highlighting pressing concerns and working towards practical resolutions to strengthen the system.

UASA remains committed to holding the UIF accountable and ensuring fair, efficient processes that benefit all workers. As a trusted labour organisation, we advocate real change, fairness, and equality in the workplace, ensuring our members receive the support and recognition they deserve.
