Statement by Abigail Moyo, spokesperson of the trade union UASA:

UASA wishes its Regional Coordinator at Sibanye-Stillwater Rustenburg Platinum Mines (SRPM), Johan Kok, all the best on his retirement.

Johan started his career in the mining sector 37 years ago. Of those years, he was part of UASA for 29 years. Starting his union career as a Full Time Union Representative (FTUR), he was later appointed as a Regional Coordinator, a position he served in until retirement.

Johan played a significant role and made remarkable contributions to UASA’s Minerals Division. On many occasions, his employment and relations at Sibanye-Stillwater and UASA have yielded positive results for our members regarding collective bargaining and other related matters on behalf of our members in the industry.

Johan also served and represented UASA members on boards, including Mine Health and Safety Council (MHSC) and Mining Occupational Health Advisory Committee (MOHAC).

The UASA Minerals Division team will miss you dearly. Farewell Johan.
