Statement by Abigail Moyo, spokesperson of the trade union UASA:
UASA welcomes the appointment of Heine Strydom as Regional Coordinator for Rustenburg operations replacing Johan Kok, who is now enjoying a well-deserved pension.
Starting his career in 1994 in the gold mining industry, his journey with UASA started in 2008 when he joined Anglo American. Throughout the years, he grew his union career and served in several positions, including shop steward, secretary and chairman at the Khuseleka mine branch.
In 2018, Heine was elected to serve on the National Executive Committee (NEC) and later as a Full Time Union Representative (FTUR).
Heine resumes duty for his appointment as of 1 August 2023. We wish him the best in this new position.
