Statement by Abigail Moyo, Spokesperson of the trade union UASA:
UASA is proud to have successfully negotiated and entered into a three-year wage increase agreement with Harmony Gold.
The finalised agreement states that permanent Harmony Gold employees in Category 4-8, which includes miners, artisans and lower level officials will receive a wage increase of 6% in year one and 6% or CPI (whichever is the greater) in years 2 and 3. All Category 4-8 surface & underground employees will receive an increase of R1000 each year for the duration of the agreement.
A sufficient amount was also agreed upon to increase other benefits including housing and living-out allowances, funeral benefits and medical incapacity pay per year, each year, for the next three years.
UASA is proud to have been part of this successful wage negotiation prompting positive results for our members employed by Harmony Gold in these difficult economic times.
