UASA is pleased with extension of the TERS benefit to 15 August this year, which is in line with Pres. Cyril Ramaphosa’s announcement that the national state of disaster was also extended to the same date. This extension will free an additional R34 billion to reach the hands of more than seven million workers.
To date, more than six million workers and 500 000 businesses have benefited from the Covid-19 TERS benefit.
Workers countrywide are bearing the brunt of the lockdown and the financial implications, and the TERS benefit has gone a long way in financially assisting them in these difficult times.
UASA is also pleased with the new measures being implemented to speed up the application and processing processes and get money to workers faster, and the security measures to prevent fraud and theft of the money from those that need it most.
We call on all South Africans who work with money meant for the needy, the poorest of the poor, to do the right thing and act in an ethical, honest manner to ensure that the funds reach their intended end destination.
