UASA will be in the Labour Court on the 4th of August 2020 to launch an urgent application for an order to force Denel to honour all outstanding contractual and statutory obligations towards our members for the months of May, June and July 2020 by no later than 7 August 2020.
UASA will also be asking the court to order Denel to honour all its future contractual and statutory obligations towards our members, and to interdict and restrain Denel from unilaterally amending the terms and conditions of employment of our members.
Denel has asked for an extension until the 31st of August 2020 to address their liquidity issues but unfortunately, we cannot afford them the extension as our members are currently sitting with either a percentage of their salaries or no salaries at all for the past four months. Indications are that this will continue at least November 2020.
UASA has given Denel enough time to put their house in order and engagements with the SOE to date have not yielded any positive results. Further delaying the court application will not be acting in the best interest of our members.
UASA again calls on the government as the only shareholder in the SOE to intervene and find an urgent solution to the matter to ensure our members get their outstanding salaries as well as full future salaries.
