UASA Media Release: 27 October 2021
Statement by Abigail Moyo, spokesperson of the trade union UASA:
UASA wishes the class of 2021 the very best throughout their National Senior Certificate examinations that started today.
UASA is proud of all learners who bravely continued with their studies through the challenging and unpredictable year the Covid-19 pandemic brought with it. We also thank all educators who didn’t give up amid the challenges.
Almost 900 000 learners are expected to sit for the exams this year.
Conveying his best wishes to this year’s matriculants, UASA CEO Jacques Hugo encouraged learners to remain resilient. “As you sit for your exams, keep the finishing line in mind – that will give you the strength to reach your goals,” he said.
“The challenges of the pandemic have been tough on all of us, but we are proud that you made it this far. The pressure can be overwhelming, so stay calm, focus, do your best and give it your all. You can do it!”
UASA urges learners and educators to continue to adhere to Covid-19 safety regulations throughout the examination period and during the celebrations thereafter.
