The return of load-shedding, the second time this early in the year, will hurt industries battling in starting up after the holiday season and level 3 directives as well as the productivity of workers who work from home offices.
It does not bode well for the hope for economic recovery in 2021.
With some industries not even active, it is hard to understand why there is not enough electricity to go around. We need private sector power generators and investment to rectify the situation and make it possible for South Africans to be productive and create jobs.
We hope Eskom can stick to its plans of an aggressive maintenance drive in the first few months of the year with measurable improvement in power supply as from April.
