UASA ready to initiate legal action if Denel breaches contract with employees

UASA wrote to the chairperson of the Denel board Ms. Monhla Hlahla, seeking clarity on the salaries matter but without any success.

With pay day fast approaching, UASA is also disappointed that the engagement we have received from Denel’s CEO, Mr. Du Toit has not been fruitful in addressing the issue.

We have also raised our concerns with the minister of Public Enterprises, Mr. Pravin Gordhan, to assist us with the matter also with no success.

If Denel breaches its contract with employees by not paying salaries on the agreed date, UASA will have no option but to institute legal action against the SOE.

Management has to accept responsibility for the situation at Denel.

The issues of salary non-payment is not a new development and it boggles the mind that the state-owned enterprise has not rectified this given the amount of time and bailouts they have received.
