The recently launched NMW Impimpa hotline will help vulnerable and isolated workers, such as domestic workers, to report non-compliant employers and especially in terms of the prescribed national minimum wages.
The facility will assist with compliance particularly where employers fail to meet their responsibilities to their employees as stated in the Labour Relations Act.
UASA appreciates the increased use of technology assist the our most vulnerable in the workplace especially as the new hotline does not require airtime, data or a smartphone to report transgressions. For most workers data and airtime is still an expensive commodity that they cannot easily afford.
UASA fully supports Employment and Labour Minister Thulas Nxesi and his department with this initiative. Like the Department of Employment and Labour, UASA is pursuing decent work conditions for all South Africans.
