UASA would like to wish South Africans a Happy Heritage Day in commemoration of our country’s richly diverse culture and legacy.
South Africans on this day come together to celebrate our diversity and indigenous cultures that unite us as the ”Rainbow Nation”.
The Coronavirus pandemic and resulting lockdowns at the different alert levels had prevented social gatherings even for close family and friends, leaving many people feeling isolated, but with the move to alert level 1, UASA encourages South Africans to spend time responsibly with family some of whom we had not seen in a while given the pandemic.
Our living heritage plays an important role in promoting cultural diversity, social cohesion, reconciliation, peace, and economic development. Let us be inspired to reclaim, restore and preserve these various aspects of South Africa’s living heritage and use them to address the various challenges we are faced with today such as inequality, unemployment, and poverty.
UASA would like to encourage everyone to enjoy this day responsibly. Let’s remember to practice social distancing, wear face masks, wash and sanitize our hands.
Nkosi sikelel’ iAfrika
Happy Heritage Day to all
