UASA is in full support of the national lockdown and other severe measures as announced by Pres. Cyril Ramaphosa tonight.
These are difficult and unprecedented times, to stem the spread of the virus and prevent deaths we have no other choice than to act in only the most responsible manner possible.
UASA encourages everyone comply out of respect for fellow citizens.
We also welcome the various measures that have been taken to try and counter the lockdowns’ effect on business, personal finances and health. The adoption of COVID-19 as an occupational disease under the COIDA act, measures to allow UIF to pay for those who might experience disruptions in their salaries and the establishment of the Solidarity Fund for those who can, to contribute and help fight the Corona virus.
Banks are also offering payment relief to companies and individuals if they can prove that the lockdown disrupted their revenue flow. UASA would like to warn consumers of the interest rates that will remain charging during the payment holiday, and encourage them to pay their debts if they can afford it.
UASA again encourages everyone to comply with the measures as stated by President Ramaphosa and to be responsible citizens during these 21 days.
